The Community Garden
Our community garden is located behind the Victoria Park Centre on Kingsmeadows Road. It can be accessed from the gate behind the centre, or the gate to Victoria Park.
As always - all ages and abilities are welcome to attend volunteer sessions on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 10am-12 noon. Our garden is a learning garden and we are happy to welcome garden users who have little or no experience, but a desire to enjoy the outdoors and grow some food! Volunteers are also welcome to take a harvest from the community garden which is particularly rewarding during the summer months.
Our community garden has multiple growing areas, a range of veg beds and fruits bushes, and a herb garden. Attractions at the garden include two polytunnels and our new yurt with wood-burner stove. We have a wide range of activities for everyone to get involved with. We welcome all ages and abilities of individual volunteers, family groups, school or clubs.
We also run a skill swapping events on Fridays and Saturdays, which are open to all members of the public, and we encourage people with skills to come along to share their knowledge with others. Please see the home page for updates on upcoming events.
Recent events and activities which have been going on at the community garden include:
Yurt Opening Day, featuring Nomad Beat drumming
“Build” week, The Conservation Volunteers assisted our growers in building 20 raised beds in only 2 days!
