Home Energy Project
This project focused on building community resilience through aiding local people to improve their energy performance through simple interventions.
They helped raise awareness with respect to energy savings that can be made in the home to over 200 households in the Peebles area. They achieved this via an ongoing High Street presence, demonstrating different forms of lighting, insulation, thermal curtains and other energy saving measures available, with an actual Home Energy Visit to 50 households. The main objectives were to make people aware of how they use their energy and to guide them towards using it more effectively, thus saving energy, reducing bills and lowering the carbon footprint of the home, with little or no cost involved.
The visits were completely free and all advice impartial. The aim was to change the way households think about energy and instill in them a long lasting change in their attitude towards home energy usage and how best to reduce waste.
