The most important first step that an individual needs to take on a low carbon journey is to be emotionally engaged. This commitment has been the most difficult and intractable part of the bottom-up approach to inspiring and motivating individuals and households to adopt positive lifestyle changes. Without this emotional commitment it is almost impossible to truly embed a low carbon culture.
StudioLab was an innovative project that aimed to build local capacity to reduce climate change impacts by developing creative and imaginative ways of bringing art and science together to create a new language and a deeper emotional understanding of how climate change is effecting our local community.
StudioLab focused on simple ways of improving the energy performance of domestic homes through simple interventions, building skills and capacity to make changes that made a measurable difference in energy consumption.
Studio Lab – Our CCF project came to a close in March, having saved 39.8 tonnes of CO2e from the atmosphere. We couldn’t have done it with all the support and engagement from the local community of Peebles, so a huge thank you to all who were involved.
This project aimed to bring art and science together to create a new language and a deeper emotional understanding of how future climate change is effecting our lives and local community. It aimed to engage a wider audience through the use of visual, dramatic and creative mediums.
